Are You Stewarding Your Time and Your Gifts Well? What a Money Call Taught Me

Have you ever gone into something expecting one thing and walked out with something completely different?

That was me on a financial call not long ago. We were talking about our finances and how to steward them better, and I was listening along like anybody would. And then the Lord spoke to my heart about something I was not expecting.

We are not only in debt to a financial industry or to money things. We are in debt to Him for our time.

We are in debt for how we spend our time with our families. We are in debt for how we use the gifts we have been given. And yes, we are even in debt for how we steward the material things He has put in our hands.

Friends, I have been sitting with that ever since.

Stewardship is not only about what is in your bank account. It is about what you do with the hours of your day. It is about who gets your attention when you walk in the door. It is about the gifts God placed in you, whether that is writing, speaking, teaching, or something you have not even named yet.

So I have been asking myself some honest questions. Am I stewarding my life well? Am I stewarding the gifts He has given me well?

And if I am telling you the truth, and I always try to, my answer was no in a lot of areas.

I do not say that to beat myself up. I say it because I think a lot of us feel the same way and do not say it out loud. We know we could be using our time better. We know there are gifts tucked away. We know there are people we could show up for more. And the good news is that the Lord is not standing there with a list to shame us. He is inviting us to walk closer with Him and do it differently.

Right now, I am taking this one room at a time in my home, and I have started with some practical things like my closet. But I know He is talking to me about much deeper things too, and I am looking forward to sharing what He shows me.

Hatteras House is one of the biggest examples I have of this in my own life. God gave me that story and He gave me the words, and I know it was a gift I was meant to steward. For a long time, I did not. Releasing it was my way of finally saying yes. I am so thankful for every reader who has picked it up and told me it touched their heart.

How we spend our time also sits at the heart of what is coming next. In Weathering the Storm, Kayla and Eric are caught in that uncertain season between growing up and figuring out what is next. As a powerful hurricane barrels toward the North Carolina coast, the two of them are trapped together and forced to face questions they have been putting off. Can love survive when two people are headed in different directions? Meanwhile, Matt and Laura Garrison are still learning what healing looks like after Matt's PTSD diagnosis, and that healing is not a straight path, it is a daily choice. It is coming soon, and I cannot wait to share more.

If you want to join me on this stewardship journey, I would love to have you. Come follow along on Instagram, and tell me what the Lord has been showing you about your time and your gifts.

Whatever He has given you, friend, I hope today is a good day to start asking Him how to steward it well.
